Hey Louise!
03:10
|
|||
Hey Louise, I wonder,
Hey Louise, I wonder,
Do you ever still wear that stress,
Do you ever still get upset
At a world gone wrong yeah?
Im standing in the middle of a river here,
And I’m going under.
Will you throw me a rock or a lifeline?
I wonder..
Hey Louise, I hunger
Hey Louise, I hunger
For the smell of summer in the air,
Silk-cut on your breath and mint in your hair
-and I’m gone there!
And It seems to me somehow, I’ve always belonged
there.
Go throw me one of your looks!
And Im gone there..
Sometimes it takes a life of mistakes
To show us on the road we wanna be
And sometimes a song or a smile comes along
That changes the course of our very destiny.
Hey Louise, I’m sorry!
Hey Louise, I’m sorry!
The last time I saw you, we should’ve made amends
But the time wasn’t right it was the funeral of a
friend
And I was worried..
That there was too many years and mourners
between us,
So I hurried...off to the bar to stand with my judge
and my jury
Tell Louise Im sorry
Tell Louise Im sorry
Tell Louise Im sorry
Hey Louise, Im sorry.

Counting Down the Days
04:12
|
|||
Over the hill and further still,
My love has gone away.
She wanted to follow that summer crowd,
Me, I wanted to stay.
Now bear in mind I’m still a young man,
Whose happiest at home,
But the dice has fallen, the cards are dealt,
And now Im ready to roam..
La la la la la la ,la la la la la la, la la, la la
I’ll sail the seven seas
And climb the Atlas Mountains.
Maybe we’ll meet again?
But I would not go counting,
Counting down the days.
Now money comes to monied sons,
Well Im sorry, but that’s not me!
For the things that I could not give to you-
And the grief that you took from me.
Now bear in mind I’m still a young man,
And I’ll take anything that’s thrown.
But the straw has broke that old camels back,
So now dear heart off you go..
La la la la la la ,la la la la la la, la la, la la
And sail the seven seas
And climb the Atlas Mountains.
Maybe we’ll meet again?
But I would not go counting,
Counting down the days.
Counting down, counting down, counting down,
counting down the days
Counting down, counting down, counting down,
counting down the days
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you’ll get rich,
Or modestly live off the land.
And hopefully all of your great designs,
Will work out just like you planned.
But I’ll bear in mind Im still a young man,
And I think things will work out just fine.
And I hope some day we’ll be friends again,
And you can add your lies to mine.
La la la la la la ,la la la la la la, la la, la la
Sail the seven seas
And climb the Atlas Mountains.
Maybe we’ll meet again?
But I would not go counting,
Counting down the days.
Counting down, counting down, counting down
the days
Eat your heart out, count down the days
Counting down, counting down, counting down,
counting down the days
Eat your heart out
Count down the days
Eat your heart out, count the days down

Flying Kites
04:00
|
|||
Everything I want to say is wrong
Doesn’t mean to say my heads not right!
Good for you, you play along
Watch out I’m flying kites!
Every time I see it, well I choke
Even simple sentences aren’t quite..
Lucky for me you get the joke
When I’m flying kites.
And she dance through the clouds,
In my dreams - every night.
So I’ll hoist up my heart to meet
Her flight.
Come to me..my arms beckon you
From my sleep,
She will wake me up in a while
But for now
Let me just dream about
Flying kites.
I remember back to those times when
We were running, creatures of the night!
Take me back to those days when
We were flying kites.
Standing on a beach now, its a dream
And I’m holding on to you so tight.
You’re farther away it seems
When I’m flying kites.
And she dance through the clouds,
In my dreams - every night.
So I’ll hoist up my heart to meet
Her flight.
Come to me..my arms beckon you
From my sleep,
She will wake me up in a while.
But for now
Let me just dream about
Flying kites...
But for now
Let me just dream about
Flying kites.

I Cant Let You In
03:03
|
|||
In the middle of a sandstorm,
You know I would save your skin.
And in return Oh Great Depression
We would find you in.
All of the other people in your life
Know the shape you’re in.
Now I find you on my doorstep, and,
I can’t let you in.
Yes it’s true, a fool, I’ve loved you
Once upon a time
Turning a blind eye to those indiscretions
To which you were so inclined.
All of the other people in your life
Warned me you had form.
Now I find you on my doorstep
Banging on my door.
Away and find some other fool tonight!
Away my fair weather friend!
Away and find some other fool tonight!
Cos I can’t let you in.
I only hope you find somebody
Strong enough for you.
Love and laughter and piece of mind
Are all that I hope for you.
All of the other people in your life
Want to see you shine.
Now I find you on my doorstep, but,
Now is not that time
Away and find some other fool tonight!
Away my fair weather friend!
Away and find some other fool tonight!
Away and make your bed
Away and find some other fool tonight!
Away my fair weather friend
Away and find some other fool tonight!
(Cos I can’t let you
Oh I can’t let you
I aint forgot about
The money that I lent you!
Oh and all those times when
I hadda come and get you.
And I don’t mean to sit here and upset you.
And I can’t let you, oh I can’t let you
I can’t let you in.)

The Grass is Greener?
05:22
|
|||
You wake up late
You bitch about it for a while
Hurry off to work
And you never once smile
You’re just going through the motions
Of a man in his prime
You and I both know it
You’re just wasting time
You’re just wasting time
Is it the grass that’s so much greener
On the other side
Well you’ve heard it
Maybe you’ve even thought it?
Is it the grass that’s so much greener
On the other side
Have you tried it?
Don’t tell me you bought it!
You come home as expected
At a reasonable hour
Like you’re somehow connected
To this delicate flower
You’re just going through the motions
Of a couple in love
But you and I both know it
Its just not enough
Its never enough
Is it the grass that’s so much greener
On the other side
Well you’ve heard it
Maybe you’ve even thought it?
Is it the grass that’s so much greener
On the other side
Have you tried it?
Don’t tell me you bought it!
One of these days, you know, you’re going
to find
That your decisions could have been better.
Count yourself lucky,
Think about what you’ve got
Thank god you’re not hungry
Consider your lot!
You’re just going through a rough patch
In an otherwise perfect game
So don’t get hung up on what your neighbours
got
Were all just the same
Were all just the same
Is it the grass that’s so much greener
On the other side
Well you’ve heard it
Maybe you’ve even thought it?
Is it the grass that’s so much greener
On the other side
Have you tried it?
Don’t tell me you bought it! x 2

This way Darlin’ take my hand
Through this gate, round to our stand
Daughter Dear, you’re the apple of my eye!
Just remember, “City til I die!”
Your Great-Grandfather brought your granny too!
Up high on his shoulders - maybe the same age as you
After the war, he played here in his prime
Then, as now, forever, “City til I die!”
Daughter Dear, Its noisy here,
You’ll likely end up foundered!
But if you find your heart
Could almost stop and start
With every late chance squandered,
Every winning goal’s like thunder.
You will know the joy
Of singing, till you lose your voice
“City til I die!”
I’d say though you’ll love it
I know you like the game
I’ve seen you taking free kicks
With the dog, out in the rain!
Maybe you’ll play some day,
We’ll cheer you on with pride
But hey no pressure!
“City til I die!”
Daughter Dear, Its noisy here,
You’ll likely end up foundered!
But if you find your heart
Could almost stop and start
With every late chance squandered,
Or every winning goal’s like thunder.
Then you will know the joy
Of singing, till you lose your voice
“City til I die!”
Yes you will know the joy
Of singing, till you lose your voice
“City til I die!”

Lady of the Lake
03:11
|
|||
Theres a witch out on the water
And if you listen very hard
She’ll play you a love song
Strumming her guitar
Love will elude her
They say she has no heart
But she does, I know I’ve heard it break
Breaking in the music of
The lady of the lake
When it’s midnight in the summer
And the water seems to shine
And the distant lights from far off trucks
Shine their golden lines
Over on the island
Across the other side
You stare, and watch the tail lights brake
Captivated only by the lady of the lake
Where did your love go?
What made him leave you so?
Did he die long before
You and I where born??
Tell me, what was the spell you couldn’t break
That kept you here forever
Lady of the lake
Summers come and winters go
Soon they gallop past
And the houses on the island now
Are springing up so fast
And soon you’ll be gone
Just like a whisper in the grass
So rise up and take what’s yours to take
And free yourself forever
Lady of the lake
Where did your love go?
What made him leave you so?
Did he die long before
You and I where born?
Tell me, what was the spell you couldn’t break
That kept you here forever
Lady of the lake
You’re free, you are free
You are finally free
From your binds
You’re free, you are free
You are finally free
From your bind
You’re free, you are free
You are finally free
From your binds
You’re free, you are free
You are finally free
From your mind.

All the Days Long
03:42
|
|||
Just awake I had forgotten
That you were still gone
As I gazed from my pillow
At the bright morning sun
Then the thought, like a grey cloud
Soon comes along
And I’ll miss you my dear friend
All the day long
I had lunch at “the truck-stop”
I savoured each taste
And a smile from the waitress
Sweet angels face
Then the thought like the coffee
Soon came along
And I’ll miss you my old friend
All the day long
I miss you my old friend
You were there at the start
When we were still singing
Pretend broken hearts
Now that you’ve left us
You’re consigned to this song
And I’ll miss you my old friend
All the days long
And at night ,well, I drinks some
Till I’m out of my head.
It helps me to sleep
When I fall into bed
And as one memory leaves me,
One comes along
And I’ll miss you my old friend
All the day long
I miss you my old friend
You were there at the start
When we were still singing
Pretend broken hearts
And as one memory leaves me
One comes along
And I’ll miss you my old friend
All the days long
All the days long
All the days long
All the days long

Well they call me ‘Sir Lonely’ - Im a pitiful sight They
call me ‘Sir Lonely’ - Im a pitiful sight
But one thing’s for sure
Im gonna get myself drunk tonight!
I wasn’t always like this - I was a sociable cat!
I wasn’t always like this - I was a sociable cat!
But I guess growing old, fat and lazy’s
gonna put an end to that!
No don’t cry for he - who steers his own direction
Look inside you will only see
The tears of your reflections
How you gonna move on if you keep looking back?
How you gonna move on if you keep looking back?
How you gonna move on if you keep looking back?
How you gonna move on?
When the Knights of Malta carried you away
When the Knights of Malta carried you away
You know I think about that moment
At some point nearly every day.
They say time’s a great healer - I don’t know about that!
They say time’s a great healer - I don’t know about that!
It’s been nearly fifty years
And I still can’t leave the flat.
Oh don’t cry for he - who steers his own direction
Look inside you will only see
The tears of your reflections
Oh don’t cry for he - who steers his own direction
Look inside you will only see
The tears of your reflections
Looking back at you.
The tears of your reflections
Looking back at you.
The tears of your reflections
Looking back at you.
The tears of your reflections
Looking back at you - Looking back at you.

Dead End Street
02:45
|
|||
The night they shot that poor child down
The cheers rang out as the glass rained down.
Not one witness, or empty casing found
Along the rows of shops and bars
The shutters they stayed down.
They say on any given night
The craic here’s hard to beat
There’s no craic dying on a dead end street.
Once a year now on that day
Family comes, leaves flowers and prays.
Later drunk men kick those wreaths away
“What the hell they doin comin back again?”, they say.
They say a warmer welcome, in this world,
You’ll never meet
Cold blows the ashes down a dead end street.
So..’War is over, if you want!’ was just some rock star’s
PR stunt?
Was ‘Peace and Love!’ then really just a front
For all the hate we hold beneath
that no-one dares confront?
They say its great to see
This place back on it’s feet,
But what have we learned?
Empty words and still we burn.
Are we so far down we can’t get turned
On this dead end street?
